Last week I busted a few myths about strength, conditioning and fitness training to the people of Solihull, Birmingham and beyond…

This week its nutrition

And boy, is this area saturated with a concoction of non-sense, hype and palaver

A lot of which gets thrown onto the tele, in your magazines and by personal trainers

What will make what I outline as genuine, real and honest fact?

EVIDENCE, from real world application and study in world’s university labs!

#1 – Big protein intake (particularly shakes) can be bad for your liver:

Here’s an instant point blank shot…

There is no, zero, zilch, scientific evidence to support this

Sure you can link anything to anything, like my coffee intake to my wild, varied taste in music

But the recommended daily protein intake of 2g per kg of bodyweight for those wanting strength or to loose body fat…

Or 1.25-1.5g per kg of bodyweight for those in endurance sport

 Are nothing but safe

Just ensure you have a decent amount of fibre with this to aid digestion 😉

#2 – Too many eggs are bad for you

Eggs contain a good amount of cholesterol…

High cholesterol in the body is linked to heart disease

But hold your horses…

The science shows the cholesterol in eggs is metabolised by the body and not left to sit

That’s why studies show no significant difference in cholesterol levels in the body, between having no eggs and a whole nest full

So eat away until cows/hens come home

#3 – Fat burners work

I know a nutritionist who quoted a study looking at this and made a great point…

The benefit of taking said supplement (CLA) was not significant and so small, it would take about 15 years to enable you to loose about 5 kg’s of weight

These supplements can only help by maybe acting as a placebo to make you feel more good and healthy and to indirectly positively influence you’re eating

Eat your protein, smash your eggs, forget fat burners
