Resistance Training without getting ‘big’

Can you get stronger, develop a great body, but without getting ‘big’

(like those people who take training selfies on Instagram)

 

Plenty of people speak to us who aren’t happy with what they see in the mirror

And are typically intimidated by your typical ego fuelled gym

(bring out the tight vests, ear phones, and cliques)

 

Consequently they want to get stronger, fitter and loose body fat…

But don’t know how

 

Well this can be achieved

Getting stronger doesn’t have to be about ‘size’

Many of the strongest people I’ve met aren’t necessarily ‘big’

In fact one of our female members has remarkable strength but only a petite frame!

 

The key to succeeding with this is firstly learning correct technique

Notably on key exercises

This could include squatting, deadlifting, lunging, press up’s, chinning etc

And never letting this slip

 

Plus, avoiding exercises which generally isolate specific muscles

 

From here, as you get competent and work harder

You should look to keep repetitions low and use extended rest periods

 

As you then get even more skilled

You can begin to learn more advanced, explosive exercises

This could be forms of Olympic lifting, sprinting or jumps

 

Coupling this up with sound nutrition and some focused conditioning

And you have the recipe to transform your body in how it functions and looks

Without turning into a bulging meathead
