The Truth About Fat…

Did you watch it on BBC 1?

My wife hates me watching this kinda stuff…

(I can be quite judgemental when its my area of expertise)

 

But there’s a couple of key things you need to know about this

 

These programmes can often be misleading

As the expert often is an expert in a much more broader area

Like the woman was a G.P…

Now would I do a programme on diagnosing and treating illness?

Nah…

 

Anyhow, the first thing which caught my beady eyes

Was watching the students doing ‘high intensity’ exercise…

They were running 30 secs on, a couple mins off, 8 times

(Not too dissimilar from the high intensity training I’ve mentioned to you)

 

BUT…

This was nowhere near the intensity required…

To optimally get fit and shed fat from your body

 

You could see it by how the fella was running and moving…

(many athlete has tried to deceive me!)

He was not pushing it at the level you need for that session

Ok, if it was for 20 repetitions then maybe, but it was 8 repetitions

He was wasting his time

 

Also they made out that regardless of the fat or carb content of your nutrition…

That when it’s matched for calories, you burn fat the same

Yep totally, BUT…

This ignores what I mentioned the other day…

That the higher fat and/or protein diet matched for calories =…

More fullness, less calories eaten and greater potential to loose fat

 

And this leads on to my final point…

Just look at the science and you see a very grey picture

(like this programme)

It’s kinda like looking at a small tele in black and white

 

But when you coach it, day in, day out…

Realise the real world issues and implications

Speak to scientists and not just read the books…

You see the whole picture and not just the science

You see it in 50 inch, super HD, curved, colour
