So this weekend, the Coalition Performance Training Centre was shook on!

The region’s (and UK’s) leading Physical Fitness Training Centre

Earlswood, Solihull/South Birmingham

 

‘The place’ for those determined and committed…

To achieving goals attainable through physical training, from sport performance to fat loss

(Don’t want to spoil you!)

 

But something which might help…

Speaking to one of my athletes today…

Who plays rugby for Engand

(and resembles a 123kg, polar bear)

 

We we’re discussing the big difference between the training habits of…

Successful athletes…

And the unsuccessful

 

One word came up…

THRESHOLD

 

So imagine for a moment you have an identical twin

Apart from the fact that he/she is LAZY

Bone idle, work shy, and a pain in the ass

 

You both do the same training programme over 2 months

The only difference is you train at THRESHOLD…

 

You do as much as you can in a given time

Maybe you do a lunge exercise for 5 reps a set

Its a scrape, but you just do it

Or you run 100m on a interval rep when conditioning, just

 

Whereas your lazy sibling only bothers to do 4 reps

Or coasts by to 90m an interval rep…

Despite knowing they could do more if they wanted

 

You’re at THRESHOLD

Their not

Your gonna get OPTIMAL GAINS

Their not

 

I had this discussion also with the geeky scientist who…

Works in secret for the organisation who look after Team GB

His research and observations agree with this point too

 

By training at threshold, you give your body optimal overload

In other words…

You apply it with the most positive stress to adapt

This means superior, faster happening results

 

How might threshold look?

In the gym:

its doing the most reps in total over a given number of sets

Or the most weight you can for a certain number of reps

For conditioning:

It’s going at a pace which allows the quickest time possible

Or, if your do reps, the greatest total distance over the session

 

Don’t believe the lies and dishonest opinion that…

You can get what you want from training by working within yourself

I’ve got a decade of experience to say otherwise…

In amateur athletes, right through to world class

In youth athletes, right up to those in their 50’s

 

While the world of fitness and personal training can create a lie…

We’ll continue to ‘keep it real’
