Fallen into new year nutrition zombie trap?
And so the charade begins
So much so I bet you notice the West Mid’s is a moodier place this month
A result of the good men and women of Brum embarking on nutritional madness…
This could be you…
Having consumed more sugar in the last month than you did when you were a sweet crazed 10 year old
You now flip it right over and consume so little carbohydrate, your brain goes into melt down
You become a walking, carb deprived zombie as you walk around the Bull Ring and Touchwood
No joke, your brains main fuel is glycogen which comes from carbohydrates
Am I endorsing you to go on a sugar binge?
Not at all
But what I’m advising you…
Based on not just my knowledge and experience
But from who those who study nutrition in depth, day in day out
Is to reduce it SENSIBLY
What’s sensible?
Ok well this is ridiculously simple, so simple you might think I’m talking trash, but…
How many kilo’s do you weigh?
Multiply this number by 2
That’s the number of grams of carbohydrate you should stay under
So if you weigh 80kg, you carb intake you be below 160 grams
And it should stay above your body weight in grams (80 grams in the example above)
BUT BEWARE
That doesn’t mean you can make these grams up with skittles, soft mints and jelly babies…
The final key is to consume these from quality, healthy, fibre based carbohydrates
(the ones not loaded with sugar)
This way you consume the carbs to fuel your body and brain to avoid turning into the biggest grouch around
But keeping your sugar intake low enough to maximise changes in body fat
There’s one more key thing, but that can wait until next time 😉
This is the exact guidance we provide those we coach at our Solihull training facility
The next bit is ensuring you do it!
