More than Training…

This morning is a flat white morning

(a type of coffee to my un-caffinated friends)

 

A cheeky double shot of espresso

With a nice, light milky layer on top

 

And boy was it needed!!!

 

Sometimes the lifestyle just means you have a mad few days or week

 

I’m sure you can relate…

The days you just smash it, progress lots, work hard, push the envelope

 

Then its full on at home as well

Jobs, visits, family, kids, mrs/fella

 

Then you rest…

 

And suddenly the adrenaline steps to one side, and…

Tiredness slaps you around the face like a wet fish

 

One thing I’ve considered more as I’ve got older

(not that I’m old, I’m merely maturing like a fine wine!)

 

Is the influence of overall lifestyle on your body

 

Because 99% of people just see the training

 

But success in achieving the fitness and body you want is also down to

 

NUTRITION

SLEEP

LEISURE

PURPOSE

FAMILY/FRIENDS

 

Now you might think this is a bit hippy and ‘peace dude’

But there’s not one leading authority in the world I have not spoke to

Who does not deny ALL of these influence your training results

And your performance

 

So what d’ya do?

 

NUTIRITON

 

Nail the 3 T’s…

 

consume the right types of food

at the right times

to add up to the right total of calories for you

 

SLEEP

 

In athletes we know those who get less than 8 hours sleep

Are nearly 2  x more likely to get injured

 

We also know this impairs performance

And not just physically

More broadly, as a result of less energy and slower decision making

 

LEISURE

 

The things you do which you enjoy

The kinda things which re energize you and allow you to disconnect, unwind

 

Maybe a swim?

A walk through the park with your family?

Going to the cinema?

Having a meal a cheeky vino with the other half?

 

PURPOSE

 

1 of 3 parts of the puzzle to human motivation is this…

Humans have greater well being when they perceive they have purpose

 

Where you get this from is very individual

For me its from allowing other to excel and succeed in things they didn’t think were possible

Setting a loving environment for my son and being the best role model possible

 

FAMILY/FRIENDS

 

When the s**t hits the fan

These are the people that will be their regardless

 

And these are the people which should provide you a buzz

Allow you to disconnect and have a good time

Form a sense of connection

 

 

This is why we place focus on all of these elements in supporting our team members
