Healthy but fat!

Let me dwell on a situation I was in the other week…

I find myself as usual taking looking at the weekly nutrition log of one of our team members

 

Easy, their very diligent and clued in on their nutrition

Think again!

 

They had made a really easy mistake

One I’ve made and was actually quite common in pro athletes we’ve coached

 

You see the media and fickle world of nutrition makes you think healthy fats are like water

 

Have as much as you want, its healthy, you’ll be cool

Coconut oil, nut butter, cream get it in

 

The issue is you can’t hide from the bare, fundamental fact…

If you consume more calories than you exert, you will get fatter

 

It doesn’t matter how healthy the calories are

If this balance is wrong, your body will gain fat

 

Once this individual had included the cream they added to coffee…

The coconut oil cooked in

Nut butter consumed

Oily dressings

 

Very quickly they were consuming more calories than they were using

 

Take home is that we promote consuming good fats to aid fullness and quash hunger

But in moderation

Don’t fall into the recent fad that by adding fat to everything creates a magic bullet

 

Don’t get so clever with your nutrition you oversee the bigger picture

Keep your energy balance in check
