The good STIFFNESS that you want
Stiffness is good!
Do you move poorly, naturally or for sport? Struggle for balance and technique in the gym?
If so, you need to create stiffness, to boost your bang for buck from training
However…
I need to explain quickly something to avoid confusion
I’m talking about stiffness, which isn’t about flexibility
Stiffness is about recruiting the right muscles at the right time, without having to really think
This keeps your limbs in perfect, efficient position
Reduces injury risk, increases performance and gets you superior results in the gym
Imagine you’re running…
You could take what I said and end up running like the Tin Man
This isn’t going to be helpful
Or…
Without thinking, through appropriate training, your muscles turn on, at the right times, to keep your limbs in perfect, efficient line and allowing you to run smooth and fluidly
In fact, this mechanism is shown to one of the most important things at improving running and sprinting performance!
Even if you don’t do a sport…
I constantly coach our members to ‘create stiffness’ when they perform whole body exercises
This transforms technique, improves the training effect and IMPROVES RESULTS
This good stiffness comes from increasing strength
Improving your ability to react to forces
And consciously thinking about using sound technique on exercises
