Why I’m Messing Up

Yep, maybe you’re like me…

Recently I’ve not been using my time great

 

Taking too long at things which don’t need it…

Not organising things in to blocks

Feeling like the days gone

 

And to be brutally honest…

Not giving my wife and my boy the time they deserve

 

Or as someone put ‘watering a field with a watering can’

 

You probably fall into this trap with training?

 

Your so keen to achieve the results with your body and performance

That you in vain try and do everything

 

Tonnes of exercises, targeting every muscle…

Core, accessories, supplements, drop sets, pyramid sets

 

Bloody hell, just writing that is exhausting

 

Just like the watering can analogy

You’re doing too much, for no greater gain

 

Piddling away time which could be spent doing other great things…

Relaxing…

Spending time with the kids or family

 

Or in my case…

Taking your other half out

 

So based on nearly a decade doing this coaching game

And helping people from average joe’s to 3 of the current England Rugby World Cup team

Here’s my pearls…

 

If your doing more than 4 exercises in a session its too much

 

If your workout takes longer than 45-50 min, its too much

 

Know and stick to your rests

 

Stick to a basic set structure, repeating around the same number of reps

 

Use rest periods to perform soft tissue and stretching

 

Have your training programme for the day and week SET

 

This is what we follow at the Coalition Performance Training Centre, Solihull…

It provides STRUCUTRE and means…

more time spent on the things which will get you where you want

 

And no time spent on stuff which won’t get you what you want
