Why you shouldn’t train body parts (inspired by Public Enemy)…

You might remember the legendary 90’s song:

‘Don’t believe the hype’, the infamous Public Enemy tune

 

Equally you may also be aware of a lot of hype that exists in the world of fitness

Tight clothing, celebrity DVD’s and more personal trainer opinions than supplement products

 

Consequently, today we’re starting a video series on facebook, with one simple, powerful aim:

Setting the record straight with genuine evidence, FACTS

 

So you don’t waste your precious time doing the hype that doesn’t deliver

But spend 100% of your time doing what delivers

 

So as a little taster, here’s one powerful message:

 

Its likely you currently, or previously have trained body parts…

‘It’s an upper back day, an arm day etc’

 

This is still a training structure used by the majority and promoted everywhere

But…

It’s not going to give you maximum return on your efforts

 

Why?

 

By dedicating whole sessions to body parts you end up:

 

  • Doing too much work through one area at once

This creates excess fatigue, reduced intensity and diluted results

 

  • Feeling the need to do multiple exercises for one area

Rather than 1 that delivers the best returns because it suits your body and ability

 

  • Using exercises which use single joints rather than multiple

E.g. bicep curl versus pull down, which reduces muscle recruitment

This only gives you results in one muscle, rather than multiple

 

Instead by dividing your training into movements:

Vertical pull, horizontal press, hip + knee extension…

Yields superior returns

 

Train based on evidence, not on unfounded opinion or hype
