Deload your training

It sounds simple, it can be incredibly powerful, but so easy to make a hash of it and end up Detraining

 

So let me clear things up so you can get this RIGHT and elevate your training progress

 

Think about your job…

Imagine you never pulled back a little and glued yourself to the computer every hour, what would happen?

 

Well unless your Batman, you’d end up collapsed in an exhausted heap

 

How often though do you not consider this with your training?

 

Sure many of you won’t train every day, some of you will, but there becomes a point where the body needs to bounce back, the scientific name being SUPERCOMPENSATION

 

And to trigger this elevation in fitness, strength and physical results you need to pull things back a little, but at the optimal time

 

Now there’s plenty of ways people do this thinking doing less is the answer, but as always I’ll give you the facts and real world, tip top experience

 

  • Drop volume, maintain intensity and frequency

 

That means reduce the AMOUNT you do (miles, reps, lengths)

But maintain the DEGREE you do it (weight, speed, power)

And maintain the REGULARITY you do it (how frequently you train)

 

Sure there’s a few more in’s and out’s but this highlights the basic recipe, formula, concoction to work from, much of which is based on strength training and endurance training science from 1970’s to modern day

 

Get this right and not only will you maximise your strength and fitness to another level

But also, restore mental freshness and keep you on track to train well and eat well
