You shouldn’t train like the pro’s necessarily

I spoke on a podcast a while ago to a nutrition guru called Ben Coomber

Tonight he’s doing a talk on ‘clients aren’t athletes’

 

And Benjamin kinda has a point…

 

Its easy to see the type of training I did with professional athletes and think…

 

‘That’s what they did, if I do the same that must be best’

Ironically, in general….

You’re wrong (that came across a bit harsh!)

 

Those guys and gals had spent years and years physically developing, learning

Most recreational, amateur athletes and weekend warriors

AND real world people from office workers to business owners, don’t have this background

 

So it makes no sense when people get thrown straight into:

 

Throwing you straight into heavy back squats…

Conventional deadlifts

Sprints, jumps

Cleaning, jerking

The Macarena and the musicman

(maybe not the last two)

 

But do you see the point?

These are ADVANCED, they time TIME TO MASTER, to EARN THE RIGHT to perform

 

And guess what…

Your body maybe set up a certain way which makes some of these not great for you

 

Yes athletic type physical training is remarkable for giving you gains in strength, power, speed, fitness, injury resistance and a great body

 

BUT…

 

You don’t go in feet first, that’s not going to give you best results

So don’t feel the urge to do all ‘cool looking stuff’
