What a guy!
Last night at home in Solihull I caught a glimpse of the para olympics…
Watching several double amputees hurtling 200m around a track
And although a British guy won gold…
The most impressive athlete was the British guy who achieved bronze
5 years before Dave Henson had his legs blown off in Afghanistan serving in the army
Now to put context on this, the other competitors had spent years without legs (most from birth)
They had chance to learn the technique not only for years, but when the body is most sensitive to improvements
However this chap in that period had intensive surgery and rehab (not to mention the psychological challenges)…
And having never moved without limbs below the knee, last night achieved a medal
I don’t know about you…
But that really does show (as he put it)
‘The impact that focus and determination can have’…
When tuned in the correct direction from support, to achieve remarkable things with your body
Next time you think you can’t… think of this Dave!
